It’s almost summertime, and that can only mean one thing – backyard barbecues, and lots of them. If you want to get away from the traditional beverage of choice – beer – or even if you are just looking for a fruity cocktail as a supplement for guests with varying tastes, here are three you can try out this summer.
- Peach Lemonade (with Bourbon, of course!) – If you want to make a cocktail fast, you only need three things: Bourbon, lemonade, and fresh peaches. Skin and pit the peaches and pop them in the blender with your lemonade and bourbon (you can determine the strength of your cocktail). Strain it, and you are ready to serve.
- Sangria with Roasted Cherries – The labor-intensive part of this one is the roasting, so be sure to put some cherries in the oven the day before you have your party. If you want the drink to be sweet rather than tart, you’ll need to sprinkle a little sugar on the cherries. After that, put the cherries into a pitcher of your favorite red wine and let it marinate overnight. Before serving, you can add your favorite garnish like mint or basil.
- Pimm’s Cup – Pimm’s a popular British liquor that makes a great punch. Add 1.5 cups of Pimm’s to 1.5 cups of cold ginger ale. You will also want about three cups of ice in the pitcher. Add slices of cucumber, lemon, and orange. Garnish with mint leaves.
